Democratic Party Precinct Leadership Elections
Fayette and Jefferson County
This is an amazing opportunity to make a real Change for Kentucky!
When: Saturday, April 17, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Your Polling Place
What: Any registered Democrat in your precinct may run, attend, nominate and vote to serve on the Precinct Committee.
Each precinct must elect:
- A Man
- A Woman
- A Youth Under 35
Please read the Precinct Elections F.A.Q. for more information.
What Then: The three persons elected as Precinct Leaders on April 17 proceed to an interim Legislative District Convention on April 24 at 10:00 a.m..
At this Legislative District Convention, the three elected precinct leaders gather with other precinct leaders in their Legislative District to elect (from themselves) a Legislative District Chair and Vice Chair.
In Jefferson County, all potential Legislative District Chairs must register with the Jefferson Co. Democratic Party (the registration deadline has passed.)
The Legislative District Chairs serve as initial members of the County Executive Committee. On April 24, this newly formed Executive Committee gathers together for their first meeting and chooses a County Party Chair and Vice-Chair.
Why: Precinct Leadership elections are the first steps into the leadership of the Democratic Party. Many of us complain (and rightfully so) about the direction and leadership of the Kentucky Democratic party. This is YOUR opportunity to do something about it.
As a precinct leaders, you have the opportunity to serve on your County Executive Committee, or perhaps serve as the Party Chair for your county. Precinct Leadership is "entry level" leadership that makes the difference; through Precinct Elections we are given an opportunity to “take back” the Democratic Party, one neighborhood at a time.
Please attend your County Democratic Party Precinct Leadership Election on April 17. Take along at lease two (2) additional registered Democrats to vote for you.
For more information, please view this F.A.Q., download a Flow Chart from the Kentucky Democratic Party, or read the Call for the 2004 Kentucky Democratic Convention.
