Over the past two weekends, a groups of DFA/Change for Kentucky members went north and west to help our fellow DFA/CFK activists with their campaigns.
On May 7, we drove along picturesque Paris Pike and US 27 to historic Maysville where Brian Underwood is running for Commonwealth’s Attorney against five Democratic challengers. The candidate is focused and dedicated and the Maysville group is friendly and enthusiastic and even the kids are involved in the campaign! We split into pairs and went door-knocking and lit dropping in the outskirts of Maysville. The weather was overcast, but the cool temperatures were ideal for campaigning and we enjoyed meeting friendly Mason County residents.
May 14 took us west to Louisville, where Col. Andrew Horne is running against three primary challengers for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd District Congressional seat. The winner will face Anne Northup in November. Thanks to David Fitts, whose knowledge of Louisville’s highways and byways is encyclopedic, we were able to find Horne HQ without a wrong turn! The candidate, a charming and personable man, was on hand to greet us and the team at Horne HQ is motivated and well-organized. Again, we did door-knocking and lit drops in pairs, in the Highlands area, where the residents we met greeted us cordially.
And May 15 had the Fayette Co. CFK group doing last-minute phone banking for Andrea James, running for LFUCG 1st District Council. Hundred of phone calls, many votes confirmed.
Good luck to all three of our DFA/CFK-endorsed candidates in their primary races.
