This is the "new method" of campaign training, created during the Howard Dean campaign, and used most recently in Paul Hackett's congressional campaign in Ohio and the Tim Kaine's gubernatorial election in Virginia. This is no social get together; the training is an intensive two-day series of sessions and workshops geared toward your particular political landscape.

RSVP for this event and we'll see you in Elizabethtown!

Note: some "hot off the presses" news on speakers and a new addition to the trainers:

1. We've just confirmed Jack Conway, challenger to Anne Northup's congressional seat in 2002, and one of the bright spots in Kentucky progressive politics, as our Saturday keynote lunch speaker. In the 2002 Congressional election, at the height of George W. Bush's popularity, when Anne Northup was walking hand-in-hand with the President, Jack Conway came within a few thousand votes of upsetting Northup, who heretofore had never been really challenged. Jack will speak about the value and power of the grassroots in his campaign and give us his take on the "lay of the political landscape in Kentucky."

2. Tom Hughes, Executive Director of Democracy for America, and former New Hampshire Field Director for Howard Dean's presidential campaign, is coming to E-town to teach a special session (or two) on campaign field work and organizing rural, sparsely populated, and urban precincts. Tom is an amazing instructor, and this is a real treat and honor for him to put away his Ex. Director hat and put on his Field Director's jacket for us.

3. Jim Dean, Chairman of Democracy for America and brother of Gov. Howard Dean, will kick-off our event on Saturday morning.

4. Our Sunday Keynote lunch speaker will be Jerome Armstrong, architect of the netroots strategy that used blogs and meetups for Howard Dean's campaign, and founder of one of the first and most influential political blogs mydd.com will be our featured guest. Along with Markos Moulitsas Zúniga (creator of DailyKos.com), Jerome is the co-author of the new book: Crashing the Gate: Grassroots, Netroots and the Rise of People-Powered Politics.

PS. If you can't make it to the DFA Training Academy, please HIT THE BAT! (We'll be asking you for money over this coming year, so save yourself the annoyance and guilt and DONATE NOW.)
