"CFK for a DAY"

cfkfordayblog.jpgSince we announced our Change for Kentucky 12 candidates last week, the response has been tremendous. Every single CFK12 candidate is excited about our selection of their campaign, and all are ready to work with (and listen to) the CFK supporters who will help them win in November.

We've also had great press coverage in the past few days, including the Lexington Herald Leader and the Kentucky Post .

It's been a great week since our announcement, and now it's time to get to work.

The Plan- "CFK for a DAY"
We want our CFK efforts to provide maximum impact for each of the 12 campaigns, and to also provide maximize visibility for CFK as a "people-powered" organization. Our plan over the next 97 days is to coordinate a single, large "CFK for a Day" event for each of the Change for Kentucky 12 candidates.

"CFK for a DAY" means that we will, in effect, TAKE OVER the ground efforts of each campaign for one day. We want to deliver 10-20 experienced and excited walkers/canvassers/phonebankers to work as a team for each candidate for one single day between now and November 2.

"Strength in Numbers" can work for a campaign. A single BIG EVENT for each candidate allows Change for Kentucky to better marshall volunteers and provide a large and visible grassroots effort for each campaign.

Where do we go from here?
In the coming days, we will identify CFK Liaisons for each campaign. These individuals (or partners) will work closely with the candidate to coordinate their particular "CFK for a DAY" event, and will also provide additional support, advise or elbow grease throughout the campaign.

Here are the CFK'ers who have already volunteered to serve as liaisons.

Jane Jensen - Ruth Ann Palumbo, Kentucky House of Representatives, 76th District
Heather Prichard - J. Ross Stinetorf, Circuit Judge, 22nd Disctict
Troy Lacefiled - Tom Blues, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, 2nd District
Dan Schumer and Allison Webster - Ralph Long, Kentucky House of Representatives, 45th District
Mary and Elizabeth Pattengill - Wanda Mattingly, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, 9th District
David Fitts - Susan Westrom, Kentucky House of Representatives, 79 District

We need YOUR HELP! Below are the candidates who have not yet been assigned CFK Liaisons. We need volunteers to step up and serve as the CFK representative for these campaigns:

Adam Smith - U.S. House of Representatives, KY 2nd District
Virginia Woodward - Kentucky Senate, 37th District
Jim Wayne - Kentucky House of Representatives, 35th District
Mary Lou Marzian - Kentucky House of Representatives, 34th District
Rick Blackwell - Louisville Metro Council, 12th District
Kathryn Groob - Kentucky Senate, 23rd District

If you are interested in being a CFK Liaison to these candidates, please send an email to volunteer@changeforkentucky.com

How can I help?
Over the coming weeks, you will see notices about each of the 12 "CFK for a DAY" events, and we will publish a master calendar at ChangeForKentucky.com that provides details, dates and times for each candidate.

We need everyone on this list to commit to participating in at least ONE "CFK for a DAY" event between now and Nov. 2. On this CFK Announcement list alone there are over 300 people. If EACH OF YOU on this list committed to one "CFK for a DAY" event, we would average 25 people per event. And if you think that 25 grassroots supporters coming out and taking over a campaign will not make a huge impact on that campaign, then you haven't seen real "people powered" politics in action.

So, there's the plan. Change for Kentucky is growing. Our influence, our outreach and our commitment to changing Kentucky politics has never been stronger. These CFK12 candidates are OUR candidates. They believe in Change for Kentucky, and they believe in YOU. Let's help them win.

I wanted to let you all know about a new petition website we just started. We're trying to build it up as much as possible to let the press know how many working people like us are against George W. Bush. I hope you stop by www.peopleagainstw.org and give us some feedback. thanks!

I have an online petition too. It is called Sorry SOB's for Kerry. If you are a sorry SOB (and you know who you are), then you probably want to elect a sorry candidate President. So go to www.sorrysob.org and support our guy, when you get around to it!
